If you're interested in history, Fredericktown has plenty to offer as well. Founded in 1818, Fredericktown is one of the oldest communities west of the Mississippi. The Madison County Courthouse, built in 1899 by famous architect Theodore Link, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a must-see for history buffs. It's also located in the center of our walkable historic downtown district, which includes the Fredericktown Civil War Museum, providing an in-depth look at the area's role in the Civil War, and the Historic Madison County Museum showcasing the region's mining history and more. You also can't miss the historic train depot converted into a popular restaurant.
